Revised Tatkal Railway reservation timings...
Railways have revised the time of booking of tatkal tickets with effect from July 10 in a bid to prevent touts from cornering tickets. Booking of tatkal tickets, permissible only one day in advance, will start at 1000 hours instead of 0800 hours for the general public, while no authorised agent, even from the IRCTC, will be allowed to book tickets online until 1200 hours.
By this decision taken by the Railway Board, the Railways hope to keep touts away from booking tickets surreptitiously the moment booking starts at the computerised reservation centres. The Railways have retained the restriction imposed on agents from booking general reserved tickets on the opening day for two hours, from 0800 hours to 1000 hours, to allow the general public to book tickets 120 days in advance.
The IRCTC is developing an e-ticket application to more than double the existing capacity to address online demand for tickets.
About 11.57 lakh berths and seats are booked a day, out of which tatkal accounts for 1.71 lakh seats and berths on 2677 trains. Tatkal booking yielded a revenue of Rs. 847 crore during 2011-12.
To prevent agents from cornering tickets, the IRCTC also proposes to capture their computers’ MAC ID, restrict booking per machine and link booking by individuals with UID and PAN

Pincode Updation - Point of Sale
The Requirement
Offices already using Point Of Sale are not able to update their PIN Code Database whenever a new version is released. In the process of upgradation it was not possible to upgrade the PIN Code database due to the size of the database. Hence the latest pincodes were not available for doing transactions in Point Of Sale Sale
How to use
Run the setup.exe in the machine where Point Of Sale Server component is installed to install the application. After the installation, Point of sale Pincode Updation will be available under Start –>Programs. Run the Point of Sale Pincode Updation exe. Point Of Sale application should be closed in all the machines before doing this. Enter the path in which Point Of Sale Server component is installed and click on Update Pincode to update the pincodes.
Those who are using Point Of Sale Pincode Updation Version 1.0 can copy the pincode.txt file available under Upgrade folder to the application installation folder of Point Of Sale Pincode Updation. Then the Point Of Sale Pincode Updation.exe can be run to update the latest pincodes.

Transfer policy of Physically Challenged C G Employees
A suggestion has been made that physically handicapped candidates appointed under the Government should preferably be posted in their native places or at least in their native district. The matter has been examined carefully by DOPT and following decision was taken vide Office Memorandum NO. A-B 14017/41/90-Estt (RR) dated 10.05.1990
However, the representations made by various Group A and Group B Officers were later considered by Government and it was decided the same benefit extended to Group C and Group D physically challenged employees will also be applicable to Group A and Group B officers. This decision was communicated by DOPT in the office memorandum No: AB 14017/16/2002-Estt.(RR) 13.03.2002.

The instructions on the grant of casual leave and special casual leave to Central Government servants paid from Civil Estimates, on specified occasions have been issued by the Government of India from time to time, over a period of years. A need has been felt for consolidating at one place the instructions issued from time to time and still in force on the subject of grant of casual leave and special casual leave. Accordingly, it has been decided to bring out the salient features of the existing instructions on the subject with which the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions are now concerned in the form of a Brochure indicating the general principles relating to the grant of casual leave and special casual leave and the special features relating to grant of special casual leave for specific purposes/occasions.
